I am trying to create a function for a histogram to plot data on a linear scale (a generalization of this question). The original answer did not work out for me and I ran into another problem that I cannot solve using the one answer I found.
The problem is that while converting from relative frequency (per group) to absolute frequency (per n individuals), there are always some values that are very close to 0 and thus have a very small n but still big r. For example, if I have an histogram of 3 individuals, and the values of the frequencies in each group are:
Group 1: (3, 2, 1)
Group 2: (1, 1, 1)

The values of the frequencies of group 2 would be:
(3/3, 2/3, 1/3) = (1, 1, 1)

Which is extremely close to the values for group 1, which would be:
(3/3, 2/3, 1/3) = (3, 2, 1)

So this means the function is not able to detect when the values are very close to 0. It also will not give the same result if you set n = 1 for example.
In the end it does not seem to make much of a difference, but it’s still an issue, so how can I solve this?
